Getting a new phone & connection – 3

Day 6
(!#&%$*!!)

I should say, I am impressed with my patience levels!.. It’s been a week since I PAID for a new connection and I am still to have it activated..

I got no reply to my mail to the Customer Care(and they say they reply in 24 hours!).. The store people said they got in touch with X and they were informed my connection will be active tomorrow…

Interesting thing is, tomorrow people from X are having a camp in my company premises.. :) .. if my connection is not activated by then, boy, I shall kick some *ss!

Getting a new phone & connection – 2

Irritatingly, Day 5.

Tried getting help from my friends but none of them have access to the Operation Support System..

Checked the Service Provider’s website and mailed my problem to their Customer Care.. I was pleasantly surprised to get their reply on a Sunday but the mail just said that my number became active on August 3rd(Day two) and that I should call their Customer Care number for further assistance.

The same response from the customer care number ” Please recharge to avail the service”!! It really angers me knowing that I have already recharged(TWICE!) and yet I have to hear this automated voice ask me to recharge so that I can speak to a Customer Care Executive!

Today being Friendship day, I was very upset on having to miss a lot of calls with my dear friends. X – it may be the last time you hear a ‘please’ from me!

I have sent a reply .. Also, I will make sure the store has their share of bone-picking with X done too tomorrow. Lets see..

Getting a new phone & connection

It’s now Day 4.

Ok.. I’ll try tell this story as simply as I can(I used to be good at story narration in primary school, not too good now I realize)..

Day Zero : I got a new phone n connection on the last day of July(I salute the credit card’s invention!). The gentlemen at the store were very helpful with advise on which connection to opt for and also lent a very understanding ear to my requirements. So after considering all the positives, I got a number I liked from service provider X. (Alas! If I may add.) The store people forget to recharge my number with talk-time so my connection stays inactive for the day.

Day One : I take my Address proof to the store and get my number recharged but unfortunately the ‘server’s’ down at the service provider’s end and so the whole day my talk-time does not get reflected in their systems(and so I remain inactive). I travel to Kerala the same evening.

Day Two : Still inactive. The people at the store take my Kerala number from my filled form and call me to say that I’ll have to provide them another Address proof because X does not accept rent agreements as Address proof. Thank you, why was this not told to me first ??!

Day Three : I walk in to the store with my driving license copy and my inactive phone. The store calls the Customer Care at X, who tells them that there is no talk-time registered and that is the reason for not having my number active. So the store(from their pockets) recharges one more time for me.

Back to Day Four, Today : Yup, still INACTIVE. I call Customer Care from my friends phone, the lady tells me I have NOT recharged and so I will continue to remain inactive. I say I have the transaction numbers for the recharges done but apparently only those recharges that reflect in the system can be traced using a transaction ID number. Suggested Solution – please recharge with talk-time! I then call the store who says they will give me a new SIM(again their own expense)..

Well I’ve worked in the Telecom field for 8 months.. And I am very interested in knowing this story’s end. I don’t want the store to spend another dime just to satisfy their customer. I eagerly look forward to seeing how X takes this further. I’ll try calling up a few friends of mine (used to work in X) and check whether I can have my number active.

Meanwhile, phone stays inactive but still serves me with all the extra features I am new with.

Dare to Do

I’ve been doin quite a few ‘daring’ things lately.. This post is not about blowing my own trumpets on them(‘daring’ is very subjective; ‘hero’ in one pair of eyes, ‘zero’ in another), but Seth’s post-”that Moment” was something of an ammo pack to my activities lately. Cheers to ya Seth!

When you are sitting right on the edge of something daring and scary and creative and powerful and perhaps wonderful… and you blink and take a step back.

That’s the moment. The moment between you and remarkable. Most people blink. Most people get stuck.

All the hard work and preparation and daring and luck is nothing compared with the ability to not blink.”
Dare to dare.. n then dare to do. At the end of it all, atleast you did!

Nothing like a day’s hard work!

Call me workaholic or be the unsavoury n call me a guy without a life(!?), but I think there’s nothin more satisfying than hitting that pillow after a whole day of solid work. I jus completed a few things a day before schedule, in the process relieved my team mate of his dependency on me, and am now going to call it a day after seeing the time touch 4:00 am.

I had a great weekend – saw the all-too-hyped Sivaji(take home – is there a woman with a more perfect figure than Shriya?), had good food, went to a Christian rock concert(healing, preaching, praying and the works), had a friendly chat with my new landlord.. all the way meant to blog on the incidences, but … my effort to post this at such a time :

there’s nothing like a day’s hard work :)

Sweet dreams!

Haircuts!

Today I had a happy, relaxed haircut. Sat back and let the barber do his job without too much of concern, infact I think I dozed off in between..

This is so totally unlike the nerve wrecking cutting sessions when the barber is cutting alright, but eyes fixed on the fat woman dance her hips off in the TV being played!.. Yup, rarely do you find a barber shop that does a cut n shave for less than 100 bucks, and does the job looking at you and not at the TV. I found my shop today – Vijaya Hairdressers at Vijaya Nagar, Velachery – nicely Air Conditioned, two humble barbers, low-volume radio, and no idiot box. They got themselves a hooked customer.

When your providing a service, make sure the basic need is satisfied – comfortably and yes, with that basic promise of security!

How many kilometers are there from Washington DC to Miami beach?

The answer to “How many kilometers from Washington DC to Miami beach”?

I am the answer!! Kilometers and Kilometers. In these days of degenerating decency of Miami beach to Washington when diplomacy and supercity become interchangeable from complicated America to America!”

“I am the answer!” – Mohanlal, da King who had it bac then.

Boy Boy Boy – this has to be the funniest scene ever in the history of malayalam cinema!.. I must have seen this video about thirty times now, 4 in this sitting!.. Each time I see it I discover a new element to get me dead(again!) wit laughter.. People, all u mallu brothas n sistas out there, tis is one scene for which I thank my parents for being Malayalees :-) .. Having watched this so many times, i could bring out many subtle parts which may go unnoticed while ur ribs are tickled until they’ve literally blocked your lungs!

But my fav, the part which I wait for, when my body moves not an inch, with unabated breath: After Mohanlal finishes his answer for “How many kilometers from Washington DC to Miami beach”, and gettin all due applause from Jagathy, our Srinivasan screams the all famous Mallu ‘Stop it!’ .. This is when u GOT to keep ur eyes on Mohanlal heh heh.. He’s jus finished making a neat boastful 360 degree turn after his power answer – jus in time to receive the ‘Stop it!’.. I go berserk wit laughter when I see Mohanlal save his leg(and stay in that position for sometime) for fear of receivin Srini’s saliva-enriched “Stop it!” heh heh ROFL .. God bless these actors, for they have given me somethin that can cheer up the worst of my days.

Go have urself a funny day!

My fav song

Now that I have decided I can blog on anythin under the sun :) ..

Tis, people, is my favourite song! .. Such a simple, sweet song, one can relate to it instantly(yeah maybe it is the loneliness callin out :) ).. Sing along, n try that out on a truly boring rainy Sunday afternoon.

Lemon tree by Fools Garden

I’m sitting here in the boring room
It’s just another rainy Sunday afternoon
I’m wasting my time
I got nothing to do
I’m hanging around
I’m waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

I’m driving around in my car
I’m driving too fast
I’m driving too far
I’d like to change my point of view
I feel so lonely
I’m waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me ’bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I’m turning my head up and down
I’m turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree

I’m sitting here
I miss the power
I’d like to go out taking a shower
But there’s a heavy cloud inside my head
I feel so tired
Put myself into bed
Well, nothing ever happens and I wonder

Isolation is not good for me
Isolation I don’t want to sit on the lemon-tree

I’m steppin’ around in the desert of joy
Baby anyhow I’ll get another toy
And everything will happen and you wonder

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me ’bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
I’m turning my head up and down
I’m turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
And I wonder, wonder

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me ’bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see, and all that I can see, and all that I can see
Is just a yellow lemon-tree

Wondering…………

Lazy Boy!

Man! I never had imagined I would lose out on the regularity promise so easily!

Go with me on this introspection please:…..

  1. Plain easy – Sreelesh is too lazy to get his blog writing regular
  2. ‘Passion’ angle! – he has no interest in writing
  3. I like this – he is way too busy to spend half an hour everyday on this exercise
  4. Writing on Communications & Internet technology/business/stuff? Please! How bored can you get?
  5. It takes too much of time to learn new stuff n then write on it!.. Y dont u jus learn n shut-up!

OK, enough of introspection.. my final take.. I am learnin lots but jus dont seem to get to seriously writing about them… Speakin to myself: “Hey, bro, cool it.. Its just a blog! u did commit and decide on writing lots but.. happens man..u really dint enjoy this all that much, to save time & do everyday!!”

So, be it – blog I will, and yes more regularly for the sake of Mr.Conscience in me, but I shall blog on whatever whoever whenever howsoever! Ladies n Gentlemen, SimplyMe becomes truly Simple n yes all about what I,ME feels like blogging on! ……. And Sreelesh – Happy Second Innings! May da forces b wit u.

Hey Mr. Conscience but I did get to writing a very regular diary. Quit the bullying!

I had to.. and then I wanted to.

Without too much of thinking let me start with how I felt the need to start a blog :

1. EVERY other person I know has a blog of his/her own ( a few even have 2-3!)..

2. My work.. the IT & Telecom industry is always hit with new products, innovations, news, technologies etc. and one has to know of the latest ASAP. If that was not difficult enough – I wasn’t much of a master of what ‘was’ or ‘is’ in the industry… I wanted to try catch up, try get to the bottom & top of things.. I decided I’d study something new everyday, and for keeping a record – blog about it..so there arose the ‘I had to blog’ realization..

3. I’ve been reading on how blogging helps in so many ways (profession & personal) & well.. I’m game for good advice.. I wanted to blog.

4. An admission – I was impressed with a few of my friends’ blogs & I was wondering whether I could also be of the impressive blog types :) .. maybe later on I’ll let the world in on who impressed me & somehow got to be the reason for me starting a blog!(when my pride allows – should take quite a long time lol)

Well, that’s enough for the birth of SimplyMe, can’t wait to hit the preview button.

Thanks for your time!
